My Scrap-Jo is back!!!

Well, it’s official! My scrap-jo is back! I got two good phone calls that totally kicked my scrap-jo in gear!! Phone call number 1- I got a job as a part time photographer in a local studio near me and phone call number 2 ) I will be starting my adult education classes FINALLY 9/9!!!! I am a happy camper! And my classes are Friday 5-9 and Saturday either 8-12 OR 5-9 which works out great.

I am currently working on a few scrappy things. I did manage getting 2 layouts and 6 cards done on Wednesday and started on a small order I got for 15 Birthday invites (I have until 09/20 to get them done)

But here is what I have been creating!

These are little cards I am making to put Jessa’s school pictures in to send family & friends. I have to make 25 of these, and so far I have made 5!

I also made my mom’s birthday card (Her birthday is 09/16) but I will not be posting the card until after she gets it because I know she reads my blog lol.

Well. I need to go throw dinner in the crock pot. Making a roast for dinner, with potatoes, carrots & onions!

I really did not realize how long it had been since I blogged her. I have been so busy with things here at home, I haven’t had anytime for scrabooking, let alone blogging on my scrappy blog. I have been blogging here and there on my everyday life blog – Mandi Mentioned. It is private, made available to read by invite only. Life has been good lately.. busy, super busy, but good. Jessa turned 5 AND started school August 22. She had a rough first day but is doing great, loves school, and loves her teacher & classmates.

We are all definitely proud of her!

At the end of June, we took a last minute trip to PA to see my family. (and when I say last minute, I mean literally decided 1 week before we left that we were going). We only stayed for 4 days, but we had a great time visiting with my family as always. We decided that we indefinitely want to move back to NY. We are hoping by the end of next year, but things happen and get in the way of plans so we are setting it for a 5 year goal. Neither of us care for Florida too much at all.. Plus all of our friends are in NY and my family in PA, and then we have Albert’s grandmother in NY too.

Well on that note; Jessa is napping (she naps every day after school, and is still in bed by 9 30), A.J and Tali are sitting in his room watching Blue’s Clues, and I am in my office, so I think I am going to scrap for a bit before dinner comes out of the oven!

Now that things are hopefully going to slow down, I am hoping to be able to blog more!

Wow… It’s been a while

Again, I have neglected posting here. Things have not slowed down here yet. We are moving in less than a week. So packing and preparing for the move has been keeping me hopping!

I had major car issues.. The water pump went on the PT Cruiser, so with that being said, we had to not only replace the water pump, but the timing chain as well as thermostat. I had the work done on the car, got the car back Thursday and it was still off. Something was not right. Well I brought the car back and they said oh nothing is wrong.. Yea right.. so me, being paranoid because of previous issues with other cars, took the Cruiser to another garage. Yea.. from it being driven (Not by me) after it over heated several times, caused a few of the sensors to go bad, and being told the heads most likely needed to be replaced.. Freaking great.. this was going to cost me another $1,200.00 PLUS.

After going over my budget (Four times!!), I decided it was time.. I got in the Cruiser and headed down to the dealer. Well I was about half way there, stopped at a red light and I noticed the car had started making a really bad vibration and a high pitch sound. The light turn green, I stepped on the gas and whammo! The car bogged down and I could not go faster than 45 miles per hour!

Well, I got to the dealer, got all my paper work out of the car and went in.. I told them of the issues with the car, that I had no cash to put down, but I had the car free and clear to trade in. Their mechanic looked at the car, took it for a test drive, took it in to the garage. The manager came over and said.. There is a lot wrong with the car, let me go put it on auction and see what I can get for it. Ok, so in the mean time, Julius, the sales person that was helping me, took my paper work (Pay stubs, ID, proof of address etc) and the manager came back and said. We got an offer, 3500.00! Alright!! So I had 3500.00 for the down payment. They then asked which vehicle ( S ) I was interested in.. so I told them and they came back with a list of cars available to me for the down payment I had. .. I really did not like anything they had on the list.. They did have a Chevy HHR, but I did not want to go that route.. So.. they found a 2005 Kia Sorrento at another one of their branches in Orlando to get it. He called to make sure it was still in stock, but nope.. they just sold it an hour before. At this point I am ready to just say screw it and leave. So the one sales guy and the manager are talking, and the salesman comes over to me and says, here, got a surprise for you, the manager said to go ahead and give you another 1,000 on your trade in, he already got it approved with corporate, so we can get you in this.. We walked out back, and there it sat- A 2006 Isuzu Ascender- Royal blue.. I immediately fell in love! He tossed the keys to me and said, go ahead, take it for a test run.. Omg, omg, omg!! I was and am totally in love with it!!!

I get back to the dealership and get inside.. They already had the paperwork approved, and ready for me to sign, so I called my insurance company and had the cruiser taken off, and put on the truck.. ( my insurance with comp and collision is only 30.00 more than what I was paying for basic on the Cruiser) and with my car payment and insurance I was 75.00 UNDER my budget for this car!! I have a 45 month loan and 3-36 warranty, along with free road side assistance, free towing and rental coverage and 3 free oil changes per year. I scored! LOL

Another month gone...

so many things have been happening here, I have not had time to keep up with my blog, or much of anything for that matter.. For a while it was the kids keeping me hopping, busy to no end but I just recently ended up in the emergency room. I am home now, on new meds and doing better though.

Now that I am on these meds, and part of the issue is gone, hopefully I can get back on track with my weight loss journey... and come 2012, Lauren and I will be headed to the Bahamas!! Her and I both have some weight to loss (me a little more than her) but if we both reach our goal at the one year mark, we are planning on booking a cruise to the Bahamas!! I am so excited. In one month (March 7- April 7th) I Lost 12lbs! A few days later is when I was in the hospital so I did have to stop my exercise routine because I was put on bedrest, (still am on bedrest but if the issue is still at bay tomorrow I can start a light work out routine!)

I have been scrapping a little here and there.. Just bought some new digital kits made by Kitty Chen over at OScraps.. they are perfect for the pictures I have taken lately.. My little Natalia started walking all by herself 4/16 and Jessa got 14 inches cut off her hair, so I have been taking a ginormous amount of pics.

Hi everyone! Things have still been hectic here, but I am finally getting some time to scrap. Today I started making some flowers again (it is that time of the year after all, right?)

I was playing around with some primas, stacked them and added a paper flower that I rolled. I actually like the way this one came out. Definitely goes well on the layout I am working on too! That’s always a plus!

Then I did these flowers. I did heart flower like this not too long ago, and figured, heck.. I’d try it with circles (since I am to lazy to pull my cricut out and cut the hearts).. The difference is instead of 17 hearts, I used 6 circles AND I am posting a tutorial here for this one as well. I am actually pretty happy with these ones as well.. and the pink one will go great with a card I am making.

You will need

1 strip of double sided paper ( I used 12 inches long by 3 inches wide to cut 6 circles 2 inches in diameter.)
1 pen or marker
Brads
Scissors
A circle template
Ink

1. Using your template, trace 6 circles on the paper strip & then cut the circles out.

2. Ink the edges ( I do both sides because they both show)

3. Roll/ fold each piece of paper. I find it’s best to fold the circle in half, then in half and then to fold the edges inward or outward.

4. After you are done rolling/folding, open each one and then place a brad through the center of one of the circles. Continue to do so with each circle until you have them all stacked on top of eachother.

5. Now that you have that done.. the next thing to do is to fold the paper the same way you did when you folded/rolled it before. Fold the top layer first, then the second one over that and so on..

Keep going until all the circles are folded, overlapping each other.Once you are done, you can pull the petals apart a little, and this is what you have.. . A pretty little flower

The quickest 11 days ever…

Hi everyone! This week went by fast. Hubby had off for his “Spring Break” last week and part of the week before. We were suppose to drive to PA on vacation to visit my family.. but things came up and we ended up not going. Which I guess is a good thing because I haven’t been feeling well all week. His 11 day vacation seems like it was only 2! I really can’t wait until his next vacation time so we can go away.

So it looks like I forgot to announce, we have a new addition to the family.. A rather cute little ball of fur.. A bunny named Stickles! Stickles is Dwarf & Rex mixed and he is just adorable!

He is such a little ham.. he loves sleeping on one of Albert’s old shirts.. the kids love him too.

I have been working on getting April’s kit together for the Darling Diva’s.. AND.. we do have a Guest Designer for April! A very talented person who does awesome work!! We will be announcing her this week!

Tali actually started walking on the floor this week! She took about 10 steps from the couch to the coffee table and back.. She will be a pro in no time!

Other than that.. not much more has gone on here.. Hoping things get back to normal this week! I will post more soon!

It’s been nice…

The last few weeks, the weather has been great! 76-85 degrees.. one day it even hit 94!! It’s been so warm that I actually broke out the kids summer clothes. Last week we went to the park, the kids had a blast. Tali got to play in the grass and was loving it! We bought the kids pinwheels, a Frisbee, a giant ball, whiffle balls and bats, along with buckets and some other outdoor toys, got in the car and went to the park for 3 hours. The nice weather, and the kids playing made for a perfect photo opportunity.. and of course being me, the one who always has the camera with her, took that opportunity!

Here are some of my favorite shots I got of A.J. He was really having a blast. Hubby was trying to teach him how to hit the ball with the bat, and wouldn’t you know, he got it on his first shot. He ran like heck trying to find the bases (He watches too much baseball with hubby LOL)

He was also having fun with the pin wheels.. he was getting such a kick out of them when the started spinning around.

And then, just like any normal boy.. he had to play in the dirt.. LOL We ended up having to shake out his clothes before we got in the car because there was dirt and sand all over him.. he got dirt in places I didn’t even know existed!! LOL

This was just a pic I took of A.J & Jessa together. They were talking about playing tag and making daddy chase them.. I knew they were upto something!!LOL

Jessa had a lot of fun too. She played in the dirt a lot of the time, she loves building (or trying anyway) sand castles LOL That’s all she talked about for a few days.. “Remember we go to the park, and I build sand castles"? is what she was saying. This summer we will definitely be taking them to the beach.

And the pinwheel… she had fun with this too, but not as much fun as she had playing in the dirt.

Then there is little miss Natalia. She just enjoyed everything. We were trying to show her how to blow on the pin wheel, she almost got it.. but some how found it more appealing to put in her mouth..

When we first put her down on the ground, she was chasing the ball around. When she finally got it, she just plopped down on her belly and sat there and watched it for a minute or two. I don’t think she realizes that when she was going after it, she was the one making it move, every time she would go to reach it, she would just tap it with her finger tips, and it would go rolling away from her.

This is just a shot I took that I LOVE.. we were packing up getting ready to go, and she was just watching Jessa and A.J gather their toys.

And then finally.. my favorite shot.. It may not be anything to some, but to me, it’s the best, because it has all 4 of them in it. My hubby and our 3 little ones.. and it shows them enjoying the outdoors..

Well… that is all for now. I will blog more again soon. Hubby has off all week, I am not sure what we have planned but I do know I have some work to do, so I will be online!!

Another Cereal Box Mini-

Hi everyone. Just wanted to share another cereal box project.. this one is an address book I made! I am totally loving the way these albums are coming out.. I have so many boxes to use.. I can see a lot of these “minis” in my near future!

The flower on this one was made with ribbon & a button. For the flower, I will post another tutorial later on how I did it.. it was really simple.. but it took me about half hour, after playing with ribbon to see how I could make new flowers, to be able to figure this one out! LOL But now that I know what I am doing, it takes less than 5 minutes to cut it and put it together.

Here is my album.

Staz-on ink

& Aleene’s Tacky glue

I used a cd case for this one. After cutting it out, I cut 1/4 off it off and used the bigger pieces as the album.

Hi everyone. sorry it's been a few days since I blogged, but I have been working on a little project, (it's a bit of a secret).I will say that it will be announced February 17 when I post my blog giveaway!

So today I have been working on some scrappy stuff. I made this...

and the first two pages on the inside.

Would you believe that this was made with a cereal box?? Yep. Good ole Cheerios!!

Here is what you need

1 empty cereal box (any will do)

4 12x12 pieces of coordinating papers

1 sheet of solid card stock

1- 12 inch paper trimmer

Ribbons (I used 3 different colors on this one)

Scissors

Your favorite adhesive

A pen (I used a zig-two way writer)

and ink!

(Anything you want to embellish this album with too)

The first thing you want to do is open the box like this..

Then tear the box so the front and back are separate from the rest of the pieces of the box

Next you will want to find something to use as a template in the shape you want your album. I used a dvd cover and traced it 2 times on the grey side of the box on each side. (you will need 4 pieces all together)

next: you want to cut out the templates you just traced

Poke 3 holes (with a hole punch or a pen, either will work fine) along ONE of the long sides on each page

Now that you have your pages cut out, you need to trace of the templates on each patterned paper and cut. All together you will need 8 pieces of paper cut to cover your pages from to back. Mark the spots for the holes on the papers, cover each page front to back and then poke holes through the paper, big enough for ribbon to go through.

and now that you have your pages put together, and holes punched/poked you will want to cut out as much ribbon as you want to use. I cut 9 pieces.. 2 different colors for each hole.

and start running the ribbon through the holes. Make sure you don’t tie the ribbons too tight.. you want to make sure the album pages will turn with out a problem.

For the circle flower.. I just drew 3 different sized circles on left over cardboard from the cereal box and then inked them.. glued them together (biggest to smallest).. made a bow of sorts with 3 pieces of ribbon, glued that on, then glued it down on to the album

and for the rest of the album, I just decorated as I wanted it. For the tabs sticking out of the pages, I used torn cardboard from the cereal box, painted them white.. covered one end in paper and then journaled on the white side.

Inside the other pages are other pictures, and journaling spots filled with journaling of things that have happened, or are happening so far in 2011 for my family

Sunday, I took a trip to Michael’s after receiving a call from a friend telling me about Basic Grey paper packs she found for 4.99 that were normally 19.99! Of course.. me being the Basic Grey lover that I am, I had to go. I found a line that I have been looking to get but it was never cheap enough or it was out of stock, discontinued, etc, etc. It’s the Basic Grey Cupcake Collection.

I used :

12x12 Basic Grey Cupcake collection papers
8.5x11 cardstock
Basic Grey cupcake line cardstock stickers
Basic Grey cupcake line Alphas
Black Staz-on ink pad
Aleene’s Tacky Glue
Fiskars 9 inch by pass trimmer
A pair of scissors

This first layout is of my youngest daughter, Natalia on her 1st Birthday, wearing her birthday bow and one of the outfits her Auntie Lauren bought her.

Isn’t she just too stinking cute?!

Here is the detail work.

The journaling spot slides in and out easily, and the picture and mat are popped up off the page.

The flower was hand made by me.

You will need

2,3 or even 4 different patterned paper, even scraps.
Glue
Ink
Buttons or other embellies for the flower center.

To Make them:

Cut each piece into a different sized circles.
crumple and then open each one, and then apply ink.

Starting with the biggest flower at the bottom, put a small dab of glue on each circle and layer them going from biggest to smallest.
Apply your embellishment of choice in the center, and voila, you have a flower!

This next layout is of my husband and youngest daughter.

Natalia was born just 3 days before Albert’s birthday (Albert’s is Jan. 21 and Natalia’s is January 18th) so to celebrate Natalia’s 1st Birthday, and Albert’s 32nd, we had a small party with cakes for the both of them.

And the detail work.

So, would it be totally pointless to tell you all that I am having a ball with these papers?? Can you tell??

Valentine’s Day- Gift bag album..

I just got back from my second day at bringing packages to the post office. Today was for a gift bag mini album my little brother custom ordered as a gift for his girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. It was pretty basic and it did come out cute!

I made an svg of her name with the heart to use on the cover (As he requested)

I also included a necklace I put together this morning, a sterling silver plated chain and sterling silver peace sign

This is page one and two- with blank 4x6 mats for her to put pictures in

page three and four- the same as two and 3, blank 4x6 photo mats

What I used to make this

2- brown paper gift bags (Any size will work)

3- sheets of patterned paper

1 –sheet of scrap red card stock for the shadow on her name

2- sheets of 8.5x11 cardstock to make the mats and cut her name out of.

pink fibers to go around the edge of the album

Plenty of Aleene’s Tacky Glue

And a few pink jewels to embellish her name.

They are really fun to make and simple too!

Hi everyone. Over the past few months my husband and I have been contemplating buying a new (pre-owned) car.. We had looked at about 12 different kinds, and had finally picked one that we wanted. It was just a matter of finding the one that was the right price and we were comfortable with. Well.. as of yesterday we are the proud owners of a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser!! We bought it out right so we didn’t have to worry about payments. Both of us love it and even the kids love it too!

Roses…

Hi everyone.

As you can see I am on a “Attempt to make my own flowers kind of kick” lately.. and while browsing Helen Crofts Blog ( I love reading her blog) I came across her “New Kind of Rose” Tutorial.. So I thought I would attempt to make one. Am I happy with how mine came out??? eh…. it could be better but I do see mine getting better with some practice!! LOL

You will need

1 strip of paper 12 inches long and 1/2 inch thick.
1 circle cut from paper about 1.5 inches in diameter
Quick dry glue (I used Aleene’s Tacky Glue, it works fine)

1.Wrinkle up the 12 inch strip of paper.

2. Apply glue to circle (you want to leave a little tiny part of the edges of the circle glue free)

3. Start in the center- place the strip down and twist the paper strip as you wrap it in a circle (If you want a bigger flower you can add another strip and continue from where the last strip left off..

and Voila.. you have your “Rose”.. here is my poor excuse for a finished product! LOL

Definitely not a Helen Croft flower, but I do like it! LOL

Late night post…

Here I sit.. 11:55 pm, unable to sleep. Today was a long, busy, bad day. To top it off, today of all days , Jessa, my 4.5 year old daughter decided that she wanted a hair cut. She asked me to cut a little. Ok, one thing about Jessa, she ~~has~~ , had , gorgeous long curls down past her butt.. and now she has long gorgeous hair that is down to her elbow. Tonight we cut 5.5, almost 6 inches, off her hair. I cried like a baby!

I did this layout using pics of Jessa’s hair, before, after and then being measured on my bypass trimmer.

I know it’s hair and it will grow back.. but cutting her hair ~~was~~ is a major thing for me. This was her first real hair cut. We cut her hair once before.. about 1/4 of an inch, but this was 5+ Inches!!

I do not look forward, at all, to Natalia’s 1st hair cut! Thankfully that is a good 3-4 years away though.

Sitting here in bed digi scrapping on my laptop, blogging, watching The Tyler Perry Play, One Big Happy Family & True Blood tonight has been surprisingly relaxing. I definitely need to do this more often!

Another fun & Easy Flower Tutorial

While searching for flower tutorials today, I came across one that caught my eye. I read the instructions and saw that it was done using SCAL (Sure Cuts A lot) and thought that was right up my alley!

.. If using SCAL you can really make them any size you want. In the tutorial, I did read that you can download a PDF with the template to hand cut these out too

Flower Tutorial..

Who loves flowers? I know I do, especially on layouts, but lets face it.. Costs are going up and buying flowers can be costly!

I got a link to a tutorial by Helen Croft, and thought I would try making the flowers.. Well not only do they add a nice touch to layouts, but they are SOO easy! I am going to give my own little tutorial on how to make these flowers.

First you will need

1 sheet of paper (Your favorite paper or scraps will work find as long as there is something left to them lol)
1 bottle of your favorite adhesive. I use Aleene’s tacky glue
Buttons, or stickles (anything you would like to use as the center)
Coordinating inks
A circle punch (Any size will do) Or you can cut the circles you will need with your cricut/ die cut machine.

I used Crate Paper – Bliss Collection.

1. Cut/Punch 6 circles of the same size and ink the edges.

2. Fold/pinch the center of 5 of the circles

and put a little dab of glue under each fold

3. Put a glue on the circle you are using for the base (the one you left un folded) and then place the folded circles you folded around the edges leaving a small amount of the center of the base shown.

adhere your button or what you are using for flower center, and you are done! You have now made a hand made flower, and in under 5 minutes!

On this one I used another paper center & put distress stickles on it.

So I have been playing around with some of Natalia's birthday pictures since last night. I wanted to make some 8x10 "collage" like layouts so I could print them out for a few family members and myself. I actually managed making two and had them printed off at CVS and I have to say I am very happy with the way they came out! Not pix-elated at all and great quality!

I definitely see myself doing a lot more of these in the future!

OH! That reminds me.. I also wanted to share a picture of her in her birthday bow that I did edits on..

Birthday Party weekend....

We had a busy weekend. Dawn & her family came out Friday, and Dawn baked Natalia's cake (we were up until 2 am) and then Saturday morning was spent assembling Natalia's cake.

Here are some pics from Saturday...

Natalia playing with a new shape sorter block set that she got for her birthday, and she loved it.

Natalia and her cute little Piggy Tales.. I can not believe her hair is long enough to put in Piggy Tales at just 1 year old.

And then.. the cake. The cupcake was all fondant, and then the top layer was Natalia's "Smasher" and boy did she have a blast with it.

Needless to say, Natalia enjoyed her day!

We also had a cake for Albert, since his birthday was 3 days after Natalia's. I ended up smashing his face into the cake and then smashing some cake into his face.. I didn't get pics but Dawn did. So as soon as I get them from her I will post them.

Storm Clouds

Hello all. Just wanting to share a few pics I took.
The other day we got hammered with a huge storm. Thunder that was lasting more than a few seconds at at time, lightening, pouring rain. I don't know about you all, but I do not like Thunder storms... I do how ever, LOVE the skies before a storm. So of course, me, seeing that there was a storm coming. I had to get pictures of it before it got here.. it was just in time too! As soon as I turned my camera off, the thunder started.

WOW! It is so hard to believe that 1 year has gone by! No one can believe that she is already 1 year old already. Seriously it snuck up on us fast.

This afternoon we had birthday cupcakes for her because hubby works from 2pm-10pm Tuesdays and 10 pm is way too late for cake. I got some cute pics, and I did manage scrapping some pics of her today too.

This is Before.... she was so Happy because we were all singing "Happy Birthday". She was even trying to sing it too.

Here she had to taste the frosting on the cupcake to see what it was and if she liked it.. This was her 1st time having cupcakes & frosting!

Well.. I guess she didn't like it.. She LOVED it!!

Not too messy for her 1st time eating cupcakes with frosting eh?

This is after her bath while she was getting dressed. Daddy was talking to her and she was trying to sing to him.. and then started talking about her "mmmeeeees" (Yummy's, the cake I assume) LOL

My youngest daughter's birthday is quickly approaching. Tomorrow she will be ONE! It is so hard to believe!!

Today I made her birthday card and then decided to scrap my favorite picture of her when she was an itty bitty tiny baby.

So, yesterday I decided to get an SVG I saw that I just HAD to have! From Treasure Box Designs It was just the cutest little Teddy Bear, and the file is called Scrapbooking bear! This bear comes with not only the little Teddy Bear to put together but scrapbooking items too. The Cricut Expression, scissors, paper, and Glue! Here is what I have done with it so far.

This first bear I created holding a Valentine's day card I made. "Love" and the border around the card are from SVGCuts

And this bear, I think IS the cutest out of the three.. Holding a Cricut Expression! You can make the end pieces (and the cricut obviously) any color you want! So I did mine in purple.

I cut the eyes, scissors and cricut all out on white paper and then inked the pieces the color I wanted and then used a Elmers painters marker do doodle/draw the white sections on the eyes!!

I can definitely see more of these bears in my near future!

So lately, Jessa, my 4 year old has been infatuated with putting on my make-up and making silly faces and then having me take pictures with my web-cam that's on my laptop, so she could see herself (well, US) making the faces. This started a few weeks ago, and I totally forgot about the pictures that we had taken and just found them while going through the folders on my laptop... They are really not the best pics, being webcam pics but they definitely made me laugh, and I hope you get a good laugh too!

My favorite feature is my eyes. They are always the first thing noticed. Most of the time they are a bright green but they have changed to grey and once in a while brown.

One thing I would like to accomplish in 2011 is to buy a new car ( a preowned would be fine) something that will last and go on road trips.

Gift Bag Mini Albums

These are just another project I have been working on, to give to a few select family & friends that were invited to Natalia's party. (My mom, Natalia's god mother, my grandmother inlaw etc etc). Each album is going have pics of Natalia from the day she was born up until this month. Then in one of the pockets, I have a homemade envelope that I stuffed with more pics since there are only 4 pics attached to the album.

I have 4 complete.. 6 started and pics of 3 LOL I will finish the other ones and take pics so I can upload them another time.

after almost 2 weeks of playing with designs, colors, templates, banners and what not, I decided on a blog theme/bg that worked for me. I loved the one I had but I needed a change. I played with blues, browns, beige, white, plain, polka dots, and finally, this is what I picked. I love it. The flowers, textures, prints and colors remind me of a layout. Perfect for my blog!! (even though my blog is more than just scrapbooking) :) I found the background and banner at Cutest Blog On The Block. I just added the word art to the banner, as well as the border around it. What do you think of my new look?

There are so many to chose from. It was a hard decision, but I was finally able to narrow mine down to 10 (a mix of Digi and paper)

Here they are..

Forever-
A LO of my youngest daughter, Natalia, and I.

There are alot of moments in life that we will remember, even as we grow old.. My most precious memories are when my kids were born.. Especially little Natalia Rose. With Natalia I was in labor for 17 hours due to complications (which included her getting stuck face up).. out of all 5 of my kids, I had the hardest labor and longest labor (I had 5 hour or less labor with the others but a long time pushing) but the easiest delivery.. I pushed 3 times and that was it, she was born. Happy, Healthy & Perfect in every way!
In the hospital she had pictures done, one with me included and I just love the picture.. it was one of my "Moments to remember" just to see how tiny she was laying in my two hands.. Priceless.. how could something so tiny, be so perfect, right down to every detail of her! Anyway.. the pic I am talking about... I scrapped.. and I love the way it came out!

Number 3- It's A Love thing

This is a pic of my DH and I taken just 4 days after Natalia was born. I scrapped this pic as a form of therapy. Over the past 2 weeks there has been a few things trying to get in between Albert & I.. a "bump in the road or hurdle?" just like the few other hurdles that have been thrown at us, we jumped over them.. we are jumping over this one... Nothing can stop or get in the way of what is meant to be.. so there fore nothing is getting in the way of he & I.

This is a 12x12 layout, using 7 pictures ( Inspiration came from KimKV. I love the fact that she uses 5 pics or more alot of the time, and one of her layouts just recently inspired me to try more than 6 pics, this is my result.

Out of literally thousands of pictures I have taken since you were born, these are only a dozen out of thousands of my favorite pictures of you.

Yes, this layout literally did take me 2.5 weeks to do. I am not normally a 12x12 scrapper.. let alone more than 3-4 pics.

Nature Pics

Of course as soon as I woke up this morning I HAD to play with my camera.. (I swear, I am just like a kid in a candy store) But this morning, I decided to take pics of some "Nature" ... My other fuji would NOT take pics as clear as these and I just love the way these came out!!

This first pic is of the grass in my side lawn under a pine tree. I zoomed in and got this shot from about 7 ft away. No editing, only the frame and wording.

The sky is so blue and clouds are very minimal today, and again, I took this great shot zoomed in.. No editing.

And last but not least this is another zoom.. lol (I Love being able to zoom in on things and get awesome shots) of the Date Tree in our front yard.. I was a good 20 feet away from the tree and got this close with the zoom on the camera

New Camera, Merry Christmas Amanda!!

So for Christmas 2010 my husband decided to buy me a camera that I have had my eye on for some time now, the Fujifilm S2500 HD!!! Mind you, there is nothing wrong with my Fuji A170, he just knew how much I LOVE this camera wanted to get me something I wanted. (This camera is the only thing I wanted for a while now! LOL)
Well, after waiting for a week and a half my camera FINALLY came in, and don't mind if I say this but I AM IN LOVE with it!!! It just feels so right in my hands!

I have taken some awesome pics on the A170, but this camera just makes those pics that much more perfect!

Here is one of the pictures I have taken with my new camera of my little Natalia; no editing, just added the frame and the water mark.

This second picture is of my husband and our youngest daughter. Again, no photo editing.

This picture is of my 4 year old daughter Jessa. She was eating a "Flavor Ice" and wanted me to take a pic of her, I know her hair is messy but I don't care LOL This pic came out great too, again with no editing.

Then there is this pic.. I absolutely loved.. I cropped this out of a full sized photo of Natalia and Albert.. She just loves her daddy had obviously has him wrapped around her little finger

and last, but not least.. my absolute fav from today!! This is a close up of my little Natalia.. I cropped the pic and blew it up.. No other editing... PERFECT

Yesterday, I sat down and digi scrapped with the Merry Merry Kit by Weefaerie, and a Christmas sample from Shabby Princess
I had fun working with both kits and definitely like the way the layouts came out. I do have more planned, but for now, this is what I have done..

All 3 layouts feature my youngest daughter. This was her 1st Christmas, and for being only 11 months old, she shocked me with how excited she got.

Well.. now to find my PAPER scrap-jo. Would you believe I have not done a paper layout since July?! I did alot of other paper projects though. ( I say this as I look at my empty holders!! This year my friend Dawn and I did my family Christmas photos. Sadly A.J did not want to be in the pictures, so I will try to take him for pics some time before or after Christmas. The poses below have my name across them for security purposes. I did take a few of them and Dawn took a few of them.

Snow Angel

I needed to take a break from paper crafting yesterday because I am feeling icky, and I am sick, so I decided to bring my laptop out on the couch with me, and played around on paintshop pro. I happened to be on my friend's blog (WeeFaerie) and saw she had made a beautiful winter kit called "Snow Angel" and thought it would be perfect to use on my Christmas photos for this year

So here is my layout that I made using one of my youngest daughter's Christmas photos from this year

I have been taking more and more pictures lately. (I have kids, so how can I not, right?) The other day I was playing around with my youngest daughter, Natalia, taking pictures of her and I have to say I am very proud of the way these two photos came out. The only editing I did to them was to crop them, resize, frame and put my name on the photo and this the result I got..

She has 2 teeth all the way in, and then a total of 8 more coming in, that have broken through her gums..

In the one Picture if her standing.. Yes.. she is standing, and walking but with walking, for some reason, she will only walk on my bed! LOL She loves to stand up and walk to the window and just sit there and look out it.

Well on that note, I am off to finish decorating!!

Christmas Cards

So I had company Friday and most of Saturday, my friend Dawn & her family came up from near Tampa. Things have been quite hectic here. Saturday morning we woke up with a flooded house LOL .. Thankfully we caught it before it got too big. It totally missed the kids room and my scrap studio, thankfully! It all got cleaned up and fixed.
In the mean time I was busy last week playing with SCAL. I am so in love with this program, and am grateful that mom bought it for me!! I have been doing so many projects with it and having so much fun. I made my Holiday cards to send out and they did come out cute, I have to say!

I used DCWV Black Currant Stack and 3 different svgs!

Here are some other projects I have been doing. The first picture is of a Cupcake card that I made using an SCAL.

and this is a picture of a Gift bag mini album I made (I got started on them thanks to Dawn!! LOL) All the paper was cut using SCAL and the paper cover is an SVG cut from resizing a rectangle.

Another Explosion Box & A Banner Too!!

I am on a roll! Getting SCAL was the best thing ever for my creative side!! Lastnight I made another Explosion Box! This time I used Die Cuts with a view "Haunting Stack".

On another creative note... I unzipped another kit today, the Princess Birthday Party SVG Kit to start on my Little Natalia's 1st Birthday party supplies, and I saw that part of the kit was pennants. SO I took the opportunity to create a Word Banner for my Scrap Studio using the pennant from this kit. I made it Halloween themed because I LOVE Halloween.. Halloween is my favorite time of year!!! So I will have a little bit of Halloween in my scrap studio all year!

So, thanks to my mom, I got SCAL in the mail yesterday and I have been playing with it since the minute it came in!!

I have made so many cards, and thanks to a generous member of svg cuts, I made my 1st Explosion box tonight!! I LOVE IT, I had so much fun making it and have picked out papers to make 3 more tomorrow!

I used Die Cuts with a View- Black Currant 12x12 paper stack to make this Explosion box.. My recommendation is to use double sided papers, if you don't, make sure you cut two of every size section.

So.. here is my very first explosion box!!

Long Time No Blog!!

Hello everyone! I am back after not blogging in almost 3 months to date! Things got hectic here but have slowed down, quite a bit so I am here blogging again. I have been dealing with medical issues. Been in severe pain. I have something called Trigeminal Neuralgia. I was diagnosed 6 years ago with it, and at that time was told the only treatment was to get alcohol injected into the trigeminal nerve OR go on pain meds during the pain episodes.. I do not like needles near my face so I opted out of the nerve injections. A few weeks ago, the pain started coming back more and more, to the point where I was in the emergency room twice. Now, there is a new treatment, Anti-seizure meds. So I was referred to a neurologist, and I have my first appointment with them in December, so in the mean time, I am on a steroid, a narcotic, anti-nausea and muscle relaxer. So far they are doing well at keeping the pain at bay!

During my few months off from blogging I didn't scrap either *gasp*! I know..Bad Mandi! But Scrap-jo is back!!! I have been doing digital pages. My cousin had her baby on November 5th, 2010, and I have been doing some digital pages for her.

I just got a new lap top on the 20th! My laptop was not cutting it for work and everything else I do on it, so I got a new Toshiba Satellite. I love it! I will be getting SCAL too (now that I have a computer that can handle the program!! I have so many ideas going through my head! I can't wait! (Thanks Mom!)

Anyway... I have rambled on long enough.. Here are two pages I did for Tifney, and her new baby Addyson!

Manic Monday...

We had a busy weekend...All though I would of liked to have relaxed today, I didn't get the chance to. Today started by me waking up in a good mood but that quickly changed.. We are still having issues with the car, and I am just ready to give up on it. I really can not wait until February. We will have enough saved by that point that we can be a pre-owned car from the dealership outright so we don't have to worry about making payments.. But on to other things.

I haven't scrapped yet today, or at all over the weekend.. but I did get lots of pics between this weekend and today... I was taking pictures of Natalia sleeping so my mom can see the way that she sleeps.. Natalia can sleep in the weirdest positions and be comfortable all night like that..

Not too much else going on that I can blog about yet... but once things start getting settled I will be posting more often.

Not much to say.. Lately the same old stuff, different day is happening. Life is hectic. Today I got a package in the mail from my mom. She bought me the home decor Cartridge for my cricut, so I did a little scrapping. Very little.. one 12x12. So.. on that note.. here is my 12x12!

4 year old photos

Normally for the kids birthday's I get professional portraits done, but with everything happening so fast, I have not had the time. So, tonight, while we were at my in-laws house, we were upstairs letting Natalia crawl around on the carpet and I decided in between videos of Natalia I was going to take pictures of Jessa to print off and send out as her 4 year pictures (I know, I know, a month late, but better late than never!) Well I was not expecting them to come out as good as they did... (But than again, Jessa, as well as all my kids are very photogenic). So here are the pictures (only 3 out of 11 that I took).. but they are the best ones!

See what I mean? I think they are perfect! Then again, I think the picture subject is perfect too. But I can not get over how much she has grown, how much she has and is changing and how absolutely gorgeous she is! Friends and family are also constantly commenting. I can not tell you how many people I have had come up to us, (people that we don't know) and tell us how beautiful she is.

It scares me, how fast she is growing. Believe me, hubby already has the shot gun waiting along with bars for the windows! LOL

I know she is my daughter, but I do not believe I am biased at all! :)

Well with that being said, I am off to bed! 6 am comes to fast! ♥!

Scrap Time!

This afternoon I decided to scrap! I pulled out my cricut, and what ever I thought I wanted to work with and I scrapped one 12x12 layout! (12x12 is not my normal size, and I usually don't like working with that size but I love the way this layout came out!

This layout is yet again, featuring my almost 7 month old daughter Natalia at around 1 month old.
The Title is : "Perfect" (because that's what she is!)

I used a paper kit from Paper heart called Baby Blessings. It was sent to be by a friend from Scrapbook.com when I had Natalia. I loved working with this paper even though I never heard of the company before.

I used Cricut cartrige Plantin School book for the circles and Alphalicious for the font.
I made the lollipop flowers by tearing circles I cut on my Cricut, and embellishing them and then used chip board from basic grey for the stem that I colored with marker and stickled with Green stickles. The flowers do have Cotton candy stickles on them as well.

The flourish was made by Stephanie @ Organized Clutter .

Hi everyone. Been a few days (4 I believe) since my last blog. Things have been busy here.
Friday we went school shopping for Jessa and bought her some fall/winter clothes for school. We had
another issue with our car (again).. stupid Hooptie mobile.. but it was fixed and we are hoping not to have this car much longer (Maybe another 6 months TOPS!)

All 3 kids are finally starting to get over their colds.. Tali had it the worst. She was only cranky for a day or so, but went right back to her happy ole self!

I haven't scrapped much the last few days. I did one layout that I finished last night for If It's Groovy Design Team and that is it. It will be posted here and in my gallery once it is up on their blog.

Today is kind of a mellow day. A load of laundry needs to be done, and I was going to run a few errands but I am just way too tired. I think I may actually sit, relax and scrap! Maybe go pick up a bottle of wine so I have something to sip while I am scrapping LOL (God only knows I need some wine right now!)

On that note, I need to get off of here, but before I do, here is a picture I took of my little Natalia this morning just being the little ray of sunshine that she is.. She was full of grins, giggles and squeaking! :)

Smart Cookie!

I am so ready for Fall. Fall is my favorite season! I love the leaves, the scents, the weather, the colors. Ok, everything really! My husband and I got married in the Fall. We originally set a date for October 27 but ended up moving it to November 3 so my best friend and his best friend could be there. This summer has been really wickedly hot and humid! This is the time of year I start fall/winter wardrobe buying for the kids as well as putting clothes that no longer fit away, and taking out ones that do. I still have to go through what was Jessa's and see if any of that fits Natalia.

Speaking of, that is what I need to go start doing, but before I go, I made a few more cards, so I am going to share them :) AND I decorated my Cricut (thanks to a friend on a message board! LOL)

So as you can see in a previous post, we had a family & friend get together for the kids birthday July 31. It was really fun and the kids made out like bandits. I usually send Thank You cards to friends & family when they send the kids things, give them cards or come to a party so Saturday night I started making Thank You Cards. I made two so far, but I have to make 15! I will be working on a few today (depending on the kids naps) I love the colors on these two cards. The paper was perfect for them!

The little Animals are hand cut right from the SassaFrass Nerdy bird paper pack.

Such a little trooper!!

Today we had a bit of a scare. Our 6 month old daughter started coughing. I called the doctor, she said to put her near the humidifier for a little while, and see if that helps. If it did, to come in on Monday, but if she got any worse, to call her back or go right into the ER. About an hour passed and I noticed that Natalia is wheezing, and coughing worse! So, me, being the worry wart that I am, I brought her into pediatric urgent care at the ER. Just by hearing her cough and wheeze the doctor was almost 100 percent sure she had pneumonia, so he had respiratory technicians come up and give her an Albuterol treatment on a nebulizer. She decided she was going to not only let them put the piece in her mouth, but she was going to hold it, DURING THE ENTIRE TREATMENT!! The techs were impressed. Once the treatment was done, the sent us over to X-Ray.. well omg.. during the x-ray she was just full of smiles, and giggles! We get back into the room and the doctor was waiting for us to tell us Natalia does NOT have pneumonia!! YAY.. and she does not have asthma!! ANOTHER BIG YAY! She just has a really bad cold that is making her wheeze and cough. They gave us a script for her and sent us home. Would you believe the entire time we were there.. fever and all, she was laughing, playing and trying so hard to get the nurses attention? They all thought she was the cutest thing, and just smart as a whip!! She even waved bye bye and said "Ba" (bye) to the doctor when we left.

I am so glad that she does not have pneumonia OR asthma for that matter. My oldest two, Leandra and Ilanna, both have asthma and from the time they were 6-7 months, until they each hit 6, they were hospitalized atleast 3 times a year each due to asthma triggered by pneumonia. I can remember times I would be driving some where, and Leandra would start coughing, having an asthma attack and start turning blue because she could not breath. So scary!!

Anyway.. I did get to take a few pictures of Natalia tonight, it was her first time in the hospital and I wanted to be able to put it in her scrapbook, especially her being the trooper she was!!

Paper Burning

Something I only did once, and I LOVED doing it, but my husband doesn't think it's safe is paper burning (No, I am not a pyro! LOL) While I was at my mom's house visiting in 2009 she gave me the idea of burning paper. So I lit a candle and burned around the edges of paper. While it smelled nasty, it came out awesome! (Oh and there was a minor accident of burning mom's plastic table cloth.. ♥ you mom! LOL)

This is the layout.. it took me a little over 4 months to complete because I wanted it to be just perfect! I love how everything came out.

If you try paper burning at home, please remember do be safe! Make sure you keep a bucket of water right next to you, and only burning 1/4 inch at a time!

Well, I am off to get some things done.

Getting back into the swing of things....

After a very long and event filled weekend I finally am sitting down to blog.

Friday we went to my mother in laws house to visit with them and my brother in law and sister in law who were visiting from NY for a few days with their two girls. I came home before hubby and the kids and once hubby came home we finished prepping and cleaning because my best friend of 20 years is on vacation in Orlando. Saturday she came to our house to visit (it's been almost 3 years since we have seen eachother) and also for the kids party.. The kids party was great.. the kids that were 4 and up spent most of the day in the pool (There were 9 kids including 3 of mine ages 11, 11, 9, 9, 4, 3, 3, 3, and 6 months, and 13 adults.) Of course, being that it was Jessa and AJ's party, Jessa, AJ and Natalia were the highlights of the party! Everyone could not believe how big Natalia was and how smart she is, and then all the comments on how beautiful Jessa is.. LOL (My kids are beautiful, and I am not biased at all!! LOL)

After the party on Saturday, Danielle invited us back to their hotel to go swimming.. So we followed them to Kissimmee FL where their hotel is and stayed for a few hours.. We went swimming in the heated pool... had a drink.. or two (Albert didn't drink, he was my designated driver!LOL) and then came home. With all the new clothes and toys all 3 kids got, Sunday I spent part of the day (about 3-4 hours) putting away their new clothes, and putting together new toys and finding spots for the new toys!

I did get pics to scrap, I will be printing them out some time this week and get started on scrapping!

Well, that being said, here are my pics for the day :)

Natalia had her 6 month well baby visit and she is advanced for her age. She is on day 9 and no bottle, only uses her sippy cup. She tries feeding herself with a spoon (I will put the baby food on the spoon and she takes the spoon and puts it in her mouth), the doctor was testing her leg strength and was holding her in a standing position by her hands and Tali took TWO steps!!! Amazing! I caught her the other night trying to feed her baby glow worm from her sippy cup.. TOO CUTE!!

Summer Time & Lil Swimmers...

Summer time is here, and like lots of others, me, and my daughters LOVE to swim.. we spend as much time in the pool as possible! Leandra and Ilanna loved water from about 7 months and up... Jessa loved the water but never got the chance to get into a pool until she was 17 months old and we moved to Florida.. Since that very first time she was hooked.. AJ HATES the water, and Tali.. well starting two months ago at 4 months old, I started bringing her in the pool with me and now, just like her mommy and sisters she LOVES the water. Albert and I went to walmart and picked her up a baby floaty so I can take her all over the pool and she was quite excited about it.. She loves for me to take her around out of it too though. Either way she gets so excited!

So this digi that I did is featuring a picture of Natalia & Jessa together in the pool at my mother-in-laws house.

Big Blue

At 6 months old, I can't get over the fact that Natalia's eyes are still as blue as they were the day she was born. Jessa and AJ both have brown eyes and light brown, almost blond hair, and pale skin. When she was born, she was darker than Jessa and AJ but now she is as pale as me. Since she is 50 percent Hispanic you would think she would have some darker features to her.. but nope.. I guess mommy's part of the gene pool won this time around! LOL

I am back to having no scrapjo.. It completely sucks! I downloaded a few quick pages (digi) today, but I really don't want to resort to the easy way every time I get scrappers block.. I need to work through it.. element by element, paper by paper, embellishment by embellishment... Don't get me wrong, I love a good quick page, I just need to stop myself from using them so I learn how to get through my block with out them. If there was no digi (god forbid) what would I do then? LOL I sure as heck am not paying the price for pre-made paper layouts! LOL

So I am off to get PSP open and work with some kits to see what I can come up with : If I can come up with anything, I will be blogging again later tonight!!

Busy!

No blog for two days.. I have to admit, I have been busy. Jessa and AJ's family/friends birthday party is on Saturday. We have one of my bestest friends, Danielle, coming from NY. She leaves Tuesday morning on the train to come to Orlando.. I am so excited, I haven't seen her since my Wedding, November 3, 2007! She is bringing her husband, son and his little sisters. This is really exciting though! I really am looking forward adult time & convo! My husband's brother and his family just flew into the airport in Orlando tonight too. I was hoping my other bestest friend, Lauren was going to make it but it turns out she isn't. Lauren is Natalia's god-mother, and Danielle is Jessa, AJ, Leandra and Ilanna's god mother.

Today I was talking to the neighbor. It looks like we are getting a swing set for the kids. Hopefully Friday. DH, the neighbor and a friend are going to go pick it up, and set it up in the back yard. I love having my own fenced in back yard! No worries about the kids running out to the road while we are out back and gives us a sense of privacy!

So tonight is a late night for me. Jessa got up around midnight because she had an accident and wanted a bath.. so after bathing her she wanted me to blow dry her hair.. An hour later and she is back asleep. While I was blow drying her hair she was playing a fishy game on my iPod. Her hair takes about 40 minutes to dry because it is so thick, long and curly. She had one hair cut in her 4 years and that was just her bangs because I didn't like seeing her hair in her face when she wears it down.

I was hoping to get some scrapping done over the last two days... but nothing. Maybe tomorrow.

Tali had her well child visit. At 6 months she is 17lbs 11oz and 25.25 inches tall! Today is day 5 of no bottle! She is doing so good on the sippy cup!!

Jessa and AJ have their 4 year and 3 year check ups tomorrow at 8 am.. So on that note, it is quarter after one, so I am gonna get off of here.

I will definitely blog tomorrow and have pics or a layout to post!

Time Out!!

The joys of parent hood!

Today our 4 year old daughter was being really difficult and testing us, so she was put in time out a few times. Rather than spanking or yelling, we do "Time out" as punishment, and if that doesn't work, we take toys away etc etc... Well today she was put in "time out" several times.. for different reasons each time. Once she gets out of time out, we sit down and talk to her and make sure she knows why she was in time out and that her behavior that got her in time out is not acceptable. She was over tired and fighting a nap.. so finally, the last time out she went into, before I even said time out, I just looked at her, and she knew she did something she shouldn't have, she just looked at me and said "I know, I know, TIME OUT! GEEZ! LOL Well she had the sourest, maddest look on her face and I just have to share....

Moments to Remember...

There are alot of moments in life that we will remember, even as we grow old.. My most precious memories are when my kids were born.. Especially little Natalia Rose. With Natalia I was in labor for 17 hours due to complications (which included her getting stuck face up).. out of all 5 of my kids, I had the hardest labor and longest labor (I had 5 hour or less labor with the others but a long time pushing) but the easiest delivery.. I pushed 3 times and that was it, she was born. Happy, Healthy & Perfect in every way!
In the hospital she had pictures done, one with me included and I just love the picture.. it was one of my "Moments to remember" just to see how tiny she was laying in my two hands.. Priceless.. how could something so tiny, be so perfect, right down to every detail of her! Anyway.. the pic I am talking about... I scrapped.. and I love the way it came out!

New Discoveries...and playmates?

A few weeks ago we noticed my youngest daughter Natalia, trying to get at Jessa (my 4 year old) and AJ my 3 year old) and their sippy cups. So we went and got her a spill proof sippy with handles.. We brought it home, washed it and put 3 oz of water and 1 oz of gerber apple juice, and handed her the cup. Wouldn't you know, she drank it? (6 months old) Well, we started giving it to her again last night, with her formula instead of the juice (I don't like her having juice more than once or twice a week) and she drank the formula.. When it was time for her to have a bottle after her dinner, she didn't want the bottle.. she wanted it in her sippy. Since last night, Natalia has not had a bottle, and has been drinking out of her sippy cup.. 6 months old, and off the bottle!!

Part two.. New playmates.. With having 5 kids, Tali is constantly learning.. and she sees Jessa playing with dolls.. Well Tali now has a new love... Baby dolls!!! She is absolutely in love with one of Jessa's baby dolls that is just as big as her!
